I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Patti Neel and I am the school nurse at WPE. I look forward to taking care of all of your children this year as they come into my office with scrapes, cuts, stomachaches, headaches, and all of the other little things that may arise. I consider it a privilege to be in the position that I am, and I will give your child the best of care.
I want to remind you that if your child will be taking any medication at school, you MUST bring it to my office yourself, and sign a form giving me permission to administer that medication to your child. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MEDICATION TO SCHOOL WITH YOUR CHILD. You may bring prescription medications, as well as over-the counter medications such as ibuprofen, pepto-bismol, cough/cold medicine, etc. All medications must be in the original container and be age-appropriate. YOU MUST COME IN AND SIGN A MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION PERMISSION FORM FOR ANY AND ALL MEDICATIONS THAT YOU ARE REQUESTING TO BE GIVEN TO YOUR CHILD.
Any child with a temperature of 100 or higher, vomiting or diarrhea will have to be picked up from school in a timely manner. We recommend they be fever-free for 24 hrs, without the use of fever-reducing medication, before returning to school. If your child has vomiting or diarrhea at home the night before or morning of school, PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL.
We are requesting that all of the younger grades keep a change of clothes, including underwear, in their backpack AT ALL TIMES. We do not stock extra clothing at school. Whenever a student has an “accident” they will be sent to the nurse office to change clothes in the restroom there. We cannot assist them with cleaning themselves. If your student is not able to clean themselves, you will be called to come and assist them. If your child brings home soiled clothing in a plastic bag, please make sure to put another pair of clean clothing in their backpack.
Also, make sure we have your current phone number, as well as alternate emergency contact numbers, at all times. If any of those numbers change throughout the school year, please let us know right away. It is essential that we be able to contact you at all times in case of an emergency.
If I can be of any assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call me at 979-799-1750 x 5010. Thank you very much for your cooperation,
Patti Neel - School Nurse, Wild Peach Elementary
